Description:
In an early sixteenth-century Book of Prayers which belonged to the monastery of St Justina, Padua, one of many finely executed miniatures of saints introduced the lesson devoted to Bernard. He is depicted with a long beard and in a white with his hood over his head. He carries a red book in his left hand. A larger image of St Benedict is found elsewhere in the manuscript (f 38).
