A nimbed Bernard seated on a bench, in a pale brown cowl with crozier in his right hand and a red book in his left, within red and blue initial V(obis fratres), the opening of Sermon One from a manuscript dated 1402 of Bernard's Sermons on the Song of Songs. It originally belonged to Wilhelmus de Arnhem, alias de Rhenan, canon of Utrecht and later to the Carthusians in Utrecht.
