Description:
A nimbed standing Bernard in a dark brown habit with crozier in right hand and book in left within the opening red initial H(odie fratres) on gold background from the Sermon for Advent 1 in a manuscript of his 'Sermones hyemales' probably from North Netherlands and dated c 1400. he stands on a white and black checkered floor. The head of the crozier and the halo are produced by needlepoint indentations on shiny gold.
