Description:
A single leaf from an Austrian manuscript from the first half of the fourteenth century has the Virgin and Child enthroned in the centre flanked by two nimbed abbots, each carrying a crozier and a book, Bernard on the left in a grey cowl and St Benedict on the right in a black cowl. All three figures are depicted in a frontal position under Gothic arches and against a gold ground.
