Description:
A late thirteenth-century miscellaneous manuscript including Bernard's 'Meditationes piissimae de cognitione humanae conditionis' at the beginning of which Bernard is depicted in a grey cowl writing at a desk against a gold background. The miniature is set in a space that appears to have been intended for a historiated initial as the small opening capital has been squeezed in later.
