Description:
One of the smaller miniatures in a Book of Hours from Lorraine (Use of Toul) from c 1470 containing 17 full-page miniatures and 19 text miniatures. At the beginning of the Seven Verses Bernard is crudely depicted in a white tunic and black scapular kneeling on a road at the front of a landscape. He faces left and holds a closed rose gilt-edged book in both hands.
