Description:
Miniature in the third volume of four of 'La fleur des Histoires' with a history up to 1380 and lives of the saints arranged in alphabetical order. Bernard stands in a white cowl with an open book in his right hand from which he is reading and a crozier in his left hand. He tramples on a devil lying on a green tiled floor in a room with an altar on the right on which is a statue of the Virgin in a blue dress and Child. On the right is a large window with wooded landscape. Below in red letters: 'De saint bernard confes et abbe et notable chevalier de bourgogne et dune notable dame'. Then follows the decorated initial S(aint bernard fut filz dun chevalier de bourgogne et dune notable dame'.
