Description:
The opening of the manuscript announces that it is 'quarta et ultima pars speculi historialis vincentii a lib 25 ad 32', in other words the 'Speculum Historiale' of Vincent de Beauvais. Within the rosa initial A(nno) with white decoration on a blue ground and with gold edges three figures are depicted on a gold ground: on the right the standing figure of Bernard, with orange halo and carrying a crozier in his left hand while his right hand is raised acknowledging a crowned figure (Conrad III) sitting dressed in rosa and orange. He holds a book in his right hand while his left hand is raised to greet Bernard. Another figure dressed in blue stands between them with his hands also raised in deference to the king.
