Description:
Book of Hours of Charles Cardinal de Bourbon, Use of Rome, has a small miniature under the heading in Latin announcing the beginning of the 7 Verses: 'sequuntur septem versus sancto bernardi O bone ihesu'. A youthful nimbed Bernard in a reddish brown tunic with white scapular which has no hood holds an open book in his left hand while in his right hand he has leash at the end of which in the corner is the head of a black horned devil. Behind is a rocky landscape. Three-quarter decorated border with leaves and flowers.
