Description:
From the Calendar with saints from a Franciscan Breviary possibly from Milan dated early fifteenth century. A bearded and nimbed Bernard with a gold halo and wearing a white cowl kneels before the Virgin whose half-figure in a blue dress, nimbed and surrounded by gold rays, appears in the sky. She raises her right hand in blessing Bernard. The image is within the rosa initial P(erfice quesumus domine...) on a gold square ground with pointed corners. This is the beginning of the prayer to Bernard from the Office of his feast. Bernard is depicted on grass against a blue background with gold decoration.
