Description:
A fifteenth-century manuscript of Guillaume de Degulleville's 'Le Pelerinage de humain voyage de vie humaine' in which Bernard is depicted in one of four miniatures of saints on one folio. The lower right hand miniature shows two nimbed monk saints, one in red and the one in front in blue. The blue figure holds a book which he presents to the kneeling naked figure - the soul of the pilgrim. Above the miniature is a prayer to St Benedict, and at the top of the following folio (95v) there is a prayer to Bernard. The two therefore represent Benedict and Bernard, although it is not possible to distinguish which is which. They are shown on a green ground with orange chequered background.
