Description:
A full-page miniature in an early sixteenth-century Manual of prayers in Dutch for each day of the week, one of a large number of miniatures of coarse execution. The Virgin with naked Child sits under a canopy with red background and bares her breast which she presses with her left hand. She faces Bernard kneeling on a tiled floor with his hands clasped in prayer and his crozier under his left arm. The scene is a room with a window the lower half of which is open to a wooded landscape in the background. The border is gold with naturalistic flowers and a butterfly. Bernard has 'tuft'.
