Description:
Large miniature in a Cistercian Missal dated 1315 from the abbey of Neuberg near Graz. On the left St Stephen, the deacon wearing a dalmatic and the protomartyr of the Church carrying the martyrs' palm in his left hand and a book in his right. Facing him on the right is Bernard with his hood partly over his head and carrying a crozier in his right hand, the left hand raised in acknowledgement of St Stephen. The text informs us that 'this book was acquired by Brother Hainricus with the money of the house'.
