The Virgin with naked Child in a blue dress sits in the centre of an elaborate throne backed by a rich red and gold damask hanging and with rosa curtains held up by four flying angels. She bares her breast to the kneeling figure of Bernard with hands clasped and his golden crozier under his right arm. The scene takes place in a Gothic room with golden canopies held up by slender columns and a tiled floor. Through a window on the left is a landscape with trees, the sea with ships, and mountains in the horizon. The border consists of flowers on a gold background.
