Description:
A miniature in an early fifteenth century manuscript of Vincent de Beauvais' 'Speculum Historiale' by the Parisian Master of the Cite des Dames depicting the veneration of the relics of Bernard by four monks in black cowls. The scene is a chapel with the golden reliquary placed on a green altar with a lamp above. One of the monks is sitting reading from a book on his knees, his hood over his head. Two of them are kneeling, one of them with his hands clasped in prayer, and one of them is prostrating himself on the tiled floor.
