Description:
Book of Hours dated 1498 (?) from Northern Netherlands. A standing Bernard, in a white cowl holding a crozier with sudarium with his left hand and a chain in his right hand at the end of which is a brown devil lying at his feet, is depicted in a miniature alongside the Latin text of his Verses. The scene is in a room with a tiled floor and a red backdrop behind Bernard.
