Description:
One of three images of Bernard in the richly-decorated Missal from Baudeloo (see also MA 110 & MA 112). Commissioned by Abbot Peter van Heetvelde, the 22nd abbot, and written between his election in 1490 and 1504, and probably nearer the latter date. He is seen on the right kneeling before the standing figure of Bernard in an architectural setting. His crozier leans against his left shoulder, and his hands are clasped in prayer. Behind him are two more monks, and behind Bernard four more, all kneeling with their hands clasped. Bernard has his crozier in his right hand and an open book in his left. A small dog kneels at his feet. He has a 'tuft'.
