Description:
Full-page miniature of Bernard and the devil in an early sixteenth-century Book of Hours, Dominican Use, known as the Hours of Frederic of Aragon. Bernard in a tunic and scapular and with what appears to be a knife hanging from his belt kneels on the left. He holds an open book of psalms in his right hand to which he points with his left index finger turning towards a winged, bearded, and horned demon with claw feet and a long tail who kneels behind Bernard with his right hand raised. The scene takes place in a vaulted room with pillars and windows behind the figures. Bernard has a 'tuft'.
