Three-quarter figure of a nimbed Bernard in a white cowl within a historiated initial in a late medieval Prayer Book. In his left hand he holds a red book and a chain at the end of which is the head of a bearded and horned devil. In his right hand he holds what looks like a bundle of sticks. He has a 'tuft'.
