From the Lectionary from Marienstern in Saxony from c 1280, also known as the Osek Lectionary. Within the initial 'A(c)' a nimbed Bernard without crozier is pointing to an open book which he holds in his left hand. Below six tonsured monks are sitting, three of them looking up and concentrating on what Bernard is saying; on the left one of them is writing in a book, on the right another with his hood up is writing on a scroll, and in the middle between the two writing monks a sixth monk is assisting them by holding an inkwell in one hand and a knife in the other.
