Description:
Full-page miniature in a Flemish Book of Hours dated c 1460 facing a folio with the Seven Verses of Bernard. Within a frame with rounded top surrounded by a decorated foliate border a nimbed Bernard in a black cowl stands on a tiled floor in what looks like a church or chapter house. He has a book in his left hand and a chain in his right at the end of which is a devil at his feet.
