Description:
Late fifteenth-century Netherlandish Book of Hours with 12 calendar and 16 other miniatures, one of which is this full-page image of Bernard in a black cowl showing the white tunic and black scapular underneath. His gaze is on an open blue book which he holds in his left hand. In his right hand he has a crozier and a chain with which he is holding a small devil at his feet. Behind him is a golden drape and in the background a river landscape with rocky mountains. The border has a bird with a human face, flowers and fruit.
