Description:
One of 21 historiated initials in this late fifteenth century Missal intended for the use of the abbot of Altenberg. Bernard is depicted in a black cowl with the white tunic showing underneath, crozier in his right hand and book in his left, in a landscape with houses and a church, within the initial H(odie) from the Vigil Mass of Christmas. The border is richly decorated. Bernard has a ' tuft'.
