Description:
Historiated initial P(rima virtus viri sancti) from Vigils on the feast of Bernard in the St Urban Antiphonary from the first quarter of the thirteenth century within which Bernard is shown in eucharistic vestments blessing two kneeling monks with his right hand while holding a crozier in his left hand. Bernard appears to be wearing a cross-inscribed pallium. The text is from the first Responsary of the first Nocturn from Vigils of the feast of St Bernard.
