Description:
Use of Paris Book of Hours of Pope Leo X dated c 1470 (incomplete) with three large and ten small miniatures. Includes 7 Verses of Bernard, illustrated with a picture of Bernard in his study, seated at a gilt canopied chair, feet on stool, inscribing the opening words 'illumina ocu[los]' on a scroll across his lap. An open book is propped up on a hexagonal gold table at the back, topped by a lectern, with three closed books in dark red bindings on a similar stand at the front on the right.
