| Cistercian Gradual dated c 1340 from the abbey of Fuerstenfeld. On f 245v there is a portrait of Abbot Wernher (1324-44). The large initial I(n medio ecclesie) introduces the feast of Bernard who is depicted standing next to the initial, nimbed, in a dark grey cowl, and with an open book in his left hand and a crozier in his right. |
