Description:
In the Crusader Manuscript known as the History of Outremer written in Old French in c 1295-1300 Bernard is depicted preaching the Crusade to a group of lay people who are listening attentively. His right hand is raised with the index finger pointing in a teaching mode while he holds a book in his left hand. Above the initial P(ar) is written in red ink: 'le sermon s. bernart par la surie'. This is almost identical to the Walters Art Gallery MS W 137 (see MA31).
