Description:
One of the earliest representations of Bernard featured in eucharistic vestments of alb, blue chasuble with white spots and stole in a miniature from the beginning of the first book of the 'Vita Prima' by William of St Thierry. He holds a crozier in his left hand and his right hand is raised in a teaching mode with the index finger pointing. The manuscript was probably from a Cistercian abbey, possibly German or Flemish.
