Description:
One of four stained glass windows designed by Hans Baldung Grien and executed by Hans Wechtlin in 1520 for the Locherer Chapel in Freiburg Cathedral, the others featuring St Anthony, St John, and St Martin. Bernard kneels before the T-Crucifix with the INRI inscription and from which Christ's arms are detached and stretched out towards Bernard. The Crucifix is dug into the ground held in place by stones around its base with a green field in a mountainous landscape with buildings in the background and a large expanse of blue sky. Two angels are in the top two corners, and the arms of Clairvaux is on the ground at the foot of the Cross.
