Description:
One of three panels dated c 1470 from the Swiss Nuns' Abbey of Fille-Dieu founded 1268/9. They represent St Benedict, St Scholastica on whose panel is the name of the donor (Duchess Yolanta of Savoy, who with her husband, Amadeus IX, visited Ronmont in 1469), and, in the centre, Bernard in a white cowl, a red book in his left hand and a crozier in his right hand which he is, unusually, holding by its sudarium.
