Description:
1525. The scene of Bernard being carried up to heaven by two angels above a landscape showing Clairvaux. It is the same two angels depicted in the deathbed scene by Joerg Breu in the Zwettl altarpiece where they are floating above Bernard awaiting to take his soul with them to heaven (see PA44). The scene is repeated in the upper half of the Altenberg panel depicting Bernard on his sick bed (see GL18).
