Description:
1505/32. Evidence from Altenberg of the cult of the saints depicting the Virgin in the company of three saints, from left, John the Evangelist, Ignatius of Antioch, and Bernard. Bernard has a crozier and a book in his left hand and a reliquary in his right, Ignatius has a lion at his feet indicating that he owed his martyr's death to a lion, and John is depicted with his traditional attribute of a chalice.
