Description:
1505/32. Bernard preaching in Trier and Koblenz in 1147 where more miracles occurred. The panel contains three scenes. On the left Bernard, accompanied by one of his monks holding his crozier, heals two blind women kneeling before him. In the centre Bernard in eucharistic vestments stands before the altar in the basilica of St Peter in Koblenz. He has an open book from which he is reading prayers in his left hand while his right hand is raised in blessing thereby healing three sick people kneeling before him. His scroll reads: 'Facile facere potest Deus, quod difficile credere vos potestis' (It is easy for God to achieve what you find difficult to believe). On the right Bernard is standing in a boat in the middle of the river and in front of the gates of the city. A man stands on the bank ready to help Bernard disembark.
