1505/32. Scene of the pope's visit to Clairvaux in 1131. On the right the pope, a cardinal, and a bishop are seen arriving on horseback. Waiting to greet them on the left are a monk carrying a processional cross, Bernard with his crozier in his left hand and an open book from which he is reading in his right hand, followed by the community. The location is indicated by the inscription on the wall: 'Claravallis'. The pope is greeted with the hymn indicated by the scroll above the monks: 'Audi, Israel, praecepta Domini' (Listen, Israel, to the precepts of the Lord) - a shortened version of Deut 4:1.
