Description:
1505/32. One of Bernard's visions during his serious illness. When in great pain he ordered one of the monks looking after him to go into the church to pray. He went to the three altars, the main one honouring the Virgin, and the other two on either side, Laurence and Benedict. They all laid their hands on Bernard and his pain went away. Bernard lies on a hard bed with the Virgin and Child nearest him on the left together with Laurence wearing a dalmatic and, on the right, Benedict in a black habit, all of them touching him. The scene is witnessed by a monk in the background.
