Description:
One of a large number of illustrations by Hans Baldung Grien in 'Der beschlossen Gart des Rosenkrantz Marie' (The enclosed garden of Mary's Rosary) printed in Nuremberg in 1505 by Ulrich Pinder. Unusually for this time in the iconography of Bernard it is not an Amplexus image but has Bernard holding a crozier standing beside the Crucifix accompanied by two of his monks with their hoods over their heads.
