| In a 'Hortulus animae' printed by Johann Grueninger in Strasbourg in 1498 the half figure of a nimbed Bernard with his hands clasped in prayer kneels before the seated Virgin with naked Child on her knee. She squeezes her bared breast with her left hand and a jet of milk goes towards Bernard. |
