Description:
Fully-illustrated edition printed in Venice 1512 by Bernardino Stagnino da trino de monferra and with a commentary by
Cristoforo Landino. Illustrating the beginning of the final canto, Canto 33, Bernard pleads with the Virgin that Dante
may be given grace to see the brightness of the Divine Majesty. A bearded Bernard with the hood of his cowl over his
head points Dante, identified by 'D' to the Virgin sitting in the centre.Above the Trinity is represented by two seated
figures, bearded and with long hair holding an orb between them. On the right is God the father with the longer beard,
on the left the Son, and in the centre above the dove of the Holy Spirit. See also EN10 & EN87.
