Description:
Title page of Bernard's Sermons ('Sermones de tempore et de sanctis cum homeliis beati Bernardi') printed in Milan by Leonardus Pachel 5 October 1495. Bernard sits alone in his study holding his crozier in his left hand and picking up a book with his right. Many other books are on two desks on either side of him, both on the top and on shelves below. A small image of the Virgin and Child hangs on the wall to the left. On the right is a niche in the wall in which a candlestick is placed. Bernard has a 'tuft'. Appears again in an edition of 1497.
