In a Dutch book printed in Delft by Snellaert or H Eckert in 1493-1499 of Bernard's 'Epistola de gubernatione rei familiaris' Bernard is seated at a desk holding a roll of writing in his left hand and with his right hand raised in acknowledgement of a group of six laymen standing in front of him. Two open and one closed book are on the desk plus some more on a shelf below. There is a view of some buildings with a tower through a window beyond the desk.
