Description:
Woodcut from Caen dated 1510 from the 'Legenda Aurea' at the beginning of the chapter dealing with Bernard which records his origin in Burgundy. Bernard kneels on a black and white tiled floor before the Virgin shown as an image on the wall holding her cross-nimbed Child with her right hand and squeezing her breast with her right hand as a result of which a jet of milk is squirted in the direction of Bernard.
